Before America Dies: Series Intro
I am very excited to be kicking off this series of writings right here on my blog. I’ll also be sharing from these writings on my podcast, Randy in Real Life, for those of you who prefer audible content. The podcast will contain more as my goal is to keep my writings here brief. It doesn’t take a prophet to recognize that we are living, right now, in the most polarizing, confusing, intimidating, vengeful, manipulative, deceptive, compromising, ruthless, dark, and insane times in history.
Each year I look back and am shocked at how rapidly our country is deteriorating. How quickly this once great nation has become a laughing stock on the world stage. Also, I find that what is happening within our nation is even more troubling than the dangers lurking outside. And for those who have eyes to see, that should be downright frightening.
Not one area of our society has been unaffected; government (federal, state, local), the family unit, men, women, parents, children, churches, schools, businesses, music, movies, television, internet, social media, and the list goes on and on. The speed at which gross immorality and evil has been tolerated, accepted, embraced, and now celebrated, is downright appalling, disturbing, and mind boggling.
A couple of weeks ago I was sitting in my study. I had just completed one of my daily episodes for the Bible 365 podcast (a podcast where I read through the entire Bible in one year, each episode under 25 minutes - shameless plug!).
It was very late and I was tired. My voice was extremely hoarse. I had spent almost 4 hours recording for one 20 minute episode! Right then I felt the Lord begin to speak to my heart in a way I had not in a very long time. There is so much I wish I could say just about that.
I grabbed a notebook and began to write, and write, and write. When I finally stopped I had written on 7 topics, very intensely, and how the truth of these can help slow down the onslaught of the enemy and possibly turn the tide…Before America Dies.
I am still writing.
This series is a result of what began that night in my study.
Being that this is an introduction to a series that will most likely have 5 to 7 blog posts/articles (we’ll see how far it goes), I need to say a few important things:
This series is written to believers, to Christians. If you are an atheist, an agnostic, or a hater of religion, this series is not for you. You are welcome to read it, of course, but let me go ahead and tell you now, some of what you read you will absolutely despise. However, some of what you read you will absolutely love. On second thought, go ahead and scratch this first point and come jump on in!
Christians…if you are weak, weary, tired, jaded, and especially afraid, you need to read this series and listen to it on the podcast. I’ll post updates when episodes are released on Randy in Real Life.
Pastors, you are my heroes in this series. All of you who have faithfully served, prayed, cried, tried, sacrificed, and have experienced deep pain few could ever know. I am confident you will be deeply encouraged, strengthened, and I hope ministered to as you read and/or listen.
There are times with my writing and especially in my preaching, when my passion for the Lord, His Church, and the lost, have come across as extremely critical and harsh. I am sure that no one has misrepresented me more than I have, and I say that with all sincerity. I will be spending more time in prayer over this series than any I have done before, and am determined to not misrepresent Jesus or His Word. Please pray for me.
